Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are a thin, semi-translucent porcelain laminates which are permanently bonded to your teeth. While they're not suitable for every patient, veneers are the most aesthetic alternative for a variety of dental conditions involving the front teeth. Because each patient is different, Dr. Macias assesses several factors which impact the outcome of the smile, including:

Face Shape

The shape of the face affects the shape of the teeth. For example, if a patient has a round face, Dr. Macias creates long, square-shaped teeth that will ultimately have a slimming affect on the patient's face.

Tooth Color

The color of the teeth corresponds with the age of the patient the younger the whiter. Dr. Macias suggests patients go two to three shades lighter but, beyond that range, the color may look artificial. Also, your personal style such as the color clothes you wear can influence the shade selection of the veneers

Tooth Size

Longer teeth are synonymous with youth. Older teeth are shorter because of years of wear and tear. For a more youthful appearance, Dr. Macias typically lengthens the front central teeth.

Crooked Teeth

Without orthodontics, Dr. Macias can correct crooked teeth by filling in spaces with veneers giving the appearance of straight, perfectly aligned teeth.

Discoloration

Veneers can cover stained, discolored teeth or be applied to whiten and brighten the entire smile. The veneers can be made to match existing teeth.

Worn Teeth

By bonding a longer veneer to the original tooth, we can add length to short, worn teeth, making them look younger and stronger.

Chips and Spaces

Veneers can cover chipped teeth, repairing any imperfection, and can close spaces.

The final result is a beautiful, custom-designed smile. A Smile Makeover generates breathtaking results and many patients say the change is "liberating" and gives their overall appearance and self-confidence an instant boost.

How are Porcelain Veneers done?

At the first appointment the teeth are prepared for the veneers and a special mold is made. This mold is sent to our master-ceramist, who creates custom fit porcelain veneers, to Dr. Macias specifications.  Beautiful temporaries are fabricated to simulate your new smile so you can expect to leave the first appointment looking better than when you came in. At the second appointment the veneers are permanently adhered to the natural teeth.

If you are looking to improve your smile, beautiful custom-fitted veneers can provide the answer.
